Arunima Majhi – Venus Fly Trap Art Collaboration
Although this is a art collaboration with Arunima Majhi and her amazing ‘Venus Fly Trap’ collection, I would like to think of them as “Love Children”. The first time I met Arunima to discuss her new collection ‘Secrets of the Sea’, within minutes we started talking about our lives, passion, work and everything else. Arunima Majhi is passionate about her work, believes in her art, willing to take the risks that come with it and extremely hard working. It has been a pleasure knowing her and seeing her work in close quarters.
The futuristic evening wear collection, titled “Venus Fly Trap”, is based on the amazing carnivorous plants, namely, the Venus fly trap, the pitcher plant and sarracenia designed by Arunima Majhi. This is a collaborative effort to create interesting and dynamic imagery of her work.
Arunima Majhi is a fashion designer based in Mumbai, India. Having finished her Bachelor of Fashion Design Degree from NIFT Mumbai she opted to pursue a career in High Street retail designing. Arunima previously worked as a womenswear design manager for a start-up youthwear brand for a period of two years before eventually deciding to pursue her true calling of being a design entrepreneur.
In October 2013, Arunima started her eponymous label which was exclusive and high end womenswear. The label marked a milestone foray by debuting its first ever collection at India’s foremost fashion event, Lakme Fashion Week in August 2014. The demi-couture eveningwear collection was very well received by buyers, stylists and media alike.
